Sex & The City Two: A Review

I am warning up front: IF YOU DO NOT WANT ANY SPOILERS don't read this.

So today I got to take a break from life and settle in with old friends Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte & Samantha. As I sat anxiously awaiting for the movie to begin, I felt my heart racing. I wanted to jump from my seat and run up and down the rows of seats high-fiving people yelling things like, "Arn't you shitting yourself right now!?" I didn't. I sat very quietly nomming some gummies and behaved myself.

Overall, I was pleased with the movie- I mean, these are my girls, so any appearance they make in my life, I'm going to be pretty stoked about. I will admit that, like a child, I may have overseen some of the flaws others might find out of pure infatuation.

The opening I did feel was a little rough, like..."Huh? Stanford & Anthony? What is going on?" and I began to feel nerves. Also, was NOT a fan of the whole Carrie looking shmanny in a tux bit. I understand the outfit was most likely chosen for comical appeal but- this is S&TC- common' now.

Once the plot took off, I began to feel like I was catching up again with old pals, I began to be taken away on the magical adventure that was S&TC2. Sure, it was chalk full of cheese, but it still made me giddy.  I would have certainly liked to see more character development and more interaction with the girls and their families.

Also? The whole cheating/instant forgiveness bit seemed out of left field and awkward. It felt a little hard to believe that when you go off and kiss your ex you will be rewarded with a diamond ring. I get the tie in, but still, not a fan. Of course, with any column-turn-book-turn-series-turn-movie-1-turn-movie 2 there are bound to be a lot of disappointed people with high expectations. I get that. As much as I could pick apart the movie, I shall not, because while it was far from perfect, it still left me wanting more in the end.

Over all low points:

-Random Standford & Anthony wedding beginning.
-Samantha during the karaoke scene.
-The Carrie & Aden kiss. I'm sorry, I hated that part. I felt like I wanted to barf.
-Lack of NYC in film.

Over all high points:

-Samantha throwing condoms at UAE conservative men.
-Abu Dhabi. GORGEOUS.
-Charlotte's Camel toe.
-Uhh, hello... the clothes!

Now lets talk turkey, or in this case, FASHION. There were a few fashion fails for me. Like previously mentioned, I was not fond of Carrie in a tux. Nor was I found of the hat she wore boarding the airplane or the "crown" she wore at the wedding. I just felt like these pieces were trying a little too hard and were lacking some elegance. The scene when the girls are about to go for a camel ride, I was a bit disappointed with the clothing choices, specifically on Charlotte and Miranda, not flattering AT ALL. What I found most surprising was that Miranda's outfits were my favorite overall.

Now, here are some photos of my favorite looks:

Me. Them. Today. YES.

Weddings: Chris & Sara

When I was asked to do Sara's makeup on her wedding day I was instantly excited. Why? 1. She is really freaking awesome. 2. She is sooo laid back so I knew it was going to be fun. 3. I LOVE CHRIS & SARA. Sara wanted to keep things very simple, so we made a plan to use copper, bronze & gold tones on her eyes. As expected, she was stress free and laid back upon my arrival.  I especially loved the vibe to the entire day- care free yet elegant. Chris & Sara got married in one of their neighbors backyards, which as you can tell from the photos below...not too shabby.Another cool twist to being a part of this wedding- my husband (Michael, aka pretty much the funniest and most lovable human being ever to walk this earth) was the cater. Let my fat ass be an indication to what kind of chef he is. Words really cannot describe his talent and passion. I am a very lucky woman. Unfortunately, Chris & Sara's wedding photographer was/is the worlds biggest douche and DID NOT SHOW UP. So pretty much 5 minutes before Sara walked down the aisle Chris looks at me and goes, "Alright, I guess you are our photographer" and that was that :) Which was pretty cool because I got to use my new camera all day!

Here are some highlights of the day:

The beautiful Bride.

The happy couple.
Celebrate!
Enjoying Michael's delicious cuisine.

Probably the BEST wedding cake I have ever tasted. For serious. Almost every guest had 3 pieces.

This is my adorable husband, Michael.

Thank you so much to Chris & Sara for letting us be a part of your lives and your special day!

Easy Smoky Eye for Beginners

I have had a few requests from people for video tutorials, or Vlogs as the cool kids call it. However this is not possible for me at this time because:

1. To make a video tutorial and NOT feel like a douche, I would have to be drunk.
2. I am not currently drunk and try to stay away from video cameras if I am.
3. My video camera sucks, but does not deserve that kind of torture.

Here is a tutorial I found on youtube on how to do a basic smokey eye. I do condone the practices/instructions of this video (even if I don't do my smokey eyes this exact way). Enjoy and I would love to hear your feedback.

I am NOT dead. Swearsies.

Hai. This is me right now. Things have been INSANE busy for my family. We are finally in our new place and the painting, arranging & fun has commenced! I feel like I have a million things to share and no time! How lame is it to blog about not having time to blog? As lame as I am thinking? Probably.

Now that my internet is on in our new pad, I will have all sorts of 'lil gems to share with ya'll over the next month, maybe even some free shiz for you guys for being so patient!

In the mean time, want to see a photo from my FIRST Mother's Day as a Mama?? No? Too bad. Here I am with our whole family on my side :) Gotta love Waffle Barn.

Hotter than a set of twin babies.

Something very near and dear to my heart is skin cancer prevention. After loosing a good friend in 2008 to Melanoma skin cancer, I became more aware of the harsh realities that cancer can bring. Sephora makes skin damage prevention not only fun but affordable with this kit for spring/summer. I also love buying sets like this because it enables me to try new products with out as much financial risk.

For $25 ($95 value) the kit includes:

-0.10 oz Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25 in Lemon and Chamomile
- 0.25 oz Peter Thomas Roth Max Sheer All Day Defense Lotion SPF 30
- 0.16 oz Kate Somerville Protect SPF 55 Serum Sunscreen
- 0.27 oz Clarins Delectable Self Tanning Mousse SPF 15
- 0.16 oz Cover FX BritePrep FX Brightening Foundation Primer & Photo-Aging Defense SPF 50
- 0.34 oz Bliss Best of Skintentions Daily Moisturizer SPF 15
- 0.23 oz Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Cream SPF 60 PA+++
- 0.25 oz Ole Henriksen Herbal Day Cream SPF 15
- 0.25 oz Smashbox Photo Finish UVA/UVB SPF 15

Totally, Baby.

I don't know if any of you were as big of fans of Benefit's Maybe, Baby fragrance as I was, but when I heard they were pulling it of the shelves I shed a tiny tear. Sure you can still find it online but eventually, you wont. I think I loved it so much because it reminded me of when I worked for them (my first big makeup job) and I would wear it everyday at work. Also loved Bathina Gettin' Steamy body wash, that paired with Maybe Baby, we would use to wash brushes at night. Brushes have never smelled so heavenly.

There is a point to this story, so bare with me as I am only on my first cup of coffee. So the other day I decided to get my son, Jude, a new type of bubble bath. I picked up Johnson & Johnson's Baby Bedtime Bubble Bath & Wash. Upon opening the bottle I got a female boner. I was so excited because it smells EXACTLY how I remember Maybe Baby! I have been using every excuse I can to use it, even washing my hands with it. It is so calming and relaxing, perfect for summer. Also, about a third of the cost.

According to Plan

I will be spending my day at floorplanner.com

I am SUCH a nerd planner when it comes to trips, decorating, basically: all things nerdy. This website allows you to create 2D and 3D floor plans of your house. Such a fun thing to do when coming up with a color scheme and layout for your house or apartment.

Just messing around, but you get the idea :)

Zac Posen for Target

In 8 years from tiny studio to world wide coverage, Zac Posen joins the group of fashion gods who have designed a signature line for Target. When meandering through my Target (yep, its mine alone) I stopped in my tracks upon seeing Zac's name. I knew his line was coming but I had forgotten (nish nish) and was just as impressed as I thought I would be. Here are my favorite looks:

Homeiswherethefartis.

Oy, ya'll. This week has been CRAZAY-sauce. Not only did I do makeup two Brides (and wedding party) this past Saturday but I also helped my talented husband cater his first wedding. Pictures, blogs & all 'dat goodshiz to follow. In addition to work we are in the middle of packing and preparing to move into our new HOUSE. Shaaaa-wing! (9 days.)

I am still stalking Craigslist and local antique/thrift stores in search of the perfect furniture for the new place but I have found some really awesome websites as well. Right now, I am finding a ton of awesome stuff at CSN. Basically it is a huge Mega-Store website that hosts over 150 specialty stores for different home departments such as Bar furniture, Home Decor, stuff for Babies & kids, etc. The one problem...getting packing done when you have so much stuff to look at.

OH! My newest find for the house? A vintage 60's chair for our study/office. It is an awesome electric blue color that I just want to hump.

$50 bones on Craigslist from some guy addicted to Survivor living in a trailer. Match made in heaven.

Also? Since we are getting to know each other so well, maybe we should get firmiliar with eachothers Twatters....? Too soon?

Newest Collection from M.A.C: Prêt-à-Papier

"Craft-paper couture - an inspired idea cut like a pattern and whipped up into a seamless spectrum of parchment-to-vellum beiges with an occasional, clever colour spill, coral among the most au courant. Avec Prêt-à-Papier, a new couture star is born!" -M.A.C

Treasure Hunt.

I have been digging at some local thrift stores to find some little gems for our new place. I just have to say, thrift stores are out of control. There is no way that a couch that is equivalent to a couch on the "free" section of craigslist should be priced $200. They should 'prolly stop smoking crack. /rant

Anyways I was able to find a few things:

Bad ass ice bucket for our "cocktail bar"

Jars (I think from Ikea?) for random stuff my husband cooks with.
Oh, and look how cute Jude is.

Hopefully I will have more finds to share with you soon!
Happy Earth Day!

Homeward bound.

Okay, so the majority of my blog will most likely consist of makeup & fashion but right now I have only one thing on my brain: home decor. Of course, right in the middle of trying to fix up our apartment/spring clean we find the perfect house for my little family. Trust, I am not complaining, but isn't that always works? As soon as you stop whining about something and accept it, life deems you worthy of an upgrade.

Right now my mind is a sea of ideas and one positive but weird part about my husband...he has opinions. For those of you who know Michael IRL you may be surprised to hear this. "Michael!?" You say. Yes. If the man wasn't a Chef he would be Clinton & Tim Gunn's effing love child. So not only do I have to try and make my indecisive, fried Mom-brain figure out what direction to go in, I have to get the approval from Michael Mizrahi. Even more annoying 99% of the time his ideas are better than mine.

So I leave you with a request, tell me about what you are into right now! Where do you get ideas for your home? Right now my main inspirations have been apartmenttherapy , Ikea hackerohdeedoh, etc. Any input is greatly appreciated. I can't wait to share what we create when we are done! Have a fabulous week betch.

My favorite find so far- these Liberty of London for Target Hatboxes, $5.99!
